Differences Between Microsoft Store Version and GitHub Version

Note: The GitHub version mentioned below refers to versions distributed through other channels outside of the Microsoft Store, including group chats, cloud storage, etc.

Main Differences

1. When a new version is released, the Microsoft Store version is usually updated 1-3 days in advance, allowing you to experience new features early.
2. The automatic updates for the Microsoft Store version are managed by Microsoft, providing a better experience. The GitHub version updates are managed by Lyricify, with the update source being the GitHub server, which may not perform as well in some regions compared to the Microsoft Store version.
3. Some features are exclusive to the Microsoft Store version.

Microsoft Store Exclusive Features

To enhance user experience and promote a positive development cycle, some features are developed as exclusive to the Microsoft Store version.
Currently, the Microsoft Store version has the following exclusive features:

1. Custom font feature for Dynamic Lyrics Island.
2. Custom font feature for Desktop Lyrics.
3. Custom font feature for Taskbar Lyrics.
4. Exclusive accelerated server for Chinese Mainland.
5. Other custom font features for lyrics interfaces.

More Information

Lyricify Lite is free software, with only some personalization settings being exclusive to the store version. If you think Lyricify Lite is doing well, you can support it through the following channels:

Special Notes for Self-contained Version

The Self-contained version includes the .NET 8.0 Desktop Runtime and is only recommended for users who cannot install the .NET 8.0 Desktop Runtime for some reason. Other users are advised to choose the Microsoft Store version or the standard installation version (i.e., the version without the .NET runtime).

Please note: The Self-contained version does not support automatic updates. After a new version is released, you will need to manually download and install the update. Lyricify has automatic updates enabled by default; however, the Self-contained version will still attempt to download and install updates, but since the update content is for the standard version (i.e., without the .NET runtime), the Lyricify application will not start after the update.
